BA Fine Art 2020

Clelia Cacciarelli

︎ Awarded the Studentship Prize ︎

I am an Italian born artist, moved to the United Kingdom to study Fine Arts.
During my studies, I have been developing my art practice and cultivating my interest in the revaluation of crafts and the female figure, in addition to the use of sustainable materials within the processes of my practice.
My fascination of Greek Mythology, particularly the Odyssey as brought me to research the female figure within historical and society settings; in particular with Penelope , Odysseus wife, and her tenacity
I have created a new fictional deity ‘EDNA’, a benevolent being, that exists within ourselves, who’s role is to allow us to become the better version of ourselves.  Using ethically sourced materials, I have been building my altar for Edna, while exploring the processes of weaving and prayer via the repetition of movement
